The owner of Ethos Restaurant in Murray Hill explains the translation of the Greek word “ethos” as keeping your word or maintaining honesty. For years, the restaurant believes they’ve maintained the idea of using the freshest ingredients (like Greek-imported oregano, thyme, and rosemary) with an emphasis on quality to produce authentic, light and healthy cuisine.
When the restaurant opened, the owners met with two elderly Greek descendants in their Astoria homes to borrow recipe ingredients and ideas in hopes of creating dishes that taste like your Greek grandmother made them.

Get any of their grilled fish. Always super fresh, delicious and never overcooked. Amazing that this is available by delivery.

Never order from this place during lunch hours. They don't have half of the dishes in the menu. I just ordered and they called me to say they are out of chicken, lamb and orzo. So all the dishes I wanted are unavailable. I am extremely disappointed. Sounds like the restaurant is in as much trouble as its mother country.

Definitely LOVE the dips at Ethos - extremely flavorful and creamy. Salads are honestly a hit or miss. Depending on who is making your salad order or what time of day, you can get something completely different and feel like you were gipped out of your order since you may pay $8 for 3 cubes of lamb in a salad. Hit or Miss salads are Maroulsalata, Elliniki, and Ethos Salata. Be sure to put in your notes (at the bottom when you are placing your order) that they add enough dressing and feta otherwise they may put too little for your liking. :)

Love the food here and order often, but it ALWAYS takes forever to get our food. Tonight, unfortunately, will be the last time, as it has been 1.5 hours and we are still waiting. Ridiculous.

Delivery times are painfully long. Well over an hour. Food shows up cold. Last time I ordered they did not send the right food. This is the last time.

Greek cuisine is one of my favorites, and Ethos does an excellent job of it. The moussaka is excellent, and the portion they serve is quite filling. I especially like their melitzanosalata. They always include warm pita bread and a delicious custard-filled pastry on the side, at no extra charge.

i always order the chicken kebabs with the lemon sage potatoes. both are incredibly good. i only gave it 3 stars because it's a little expensive, can sometimes take over 45 minutes for delivery and there have been a couple times the potatoes weren't as done as i would like. but that hasn't been enough to stop me from ordering here again. yum!

My dinner last night was perfect! I was so happy with my Avgolemono soup, it was a very generous portion! It was healthy, SO TASTY, warm & creamy. My chicken gyro was very lean and tender and my sides were amazing. It was like ya-ya was cooking. You guys are the best, GO GREEK!!!!! Thank you!! Keep up the great cooking - dessert was spot on as well! :)

This has become my go to greek place, great upscale food at reasonable prices and then there's the Gyro... perfectly cooked combination of meat, pita and deliciousness. And so cheap!! It's not even on the menu if you sit down at the restaurant, but that didn't stop me from trying to order one. As far as greek sandwiches go I would put it up against the lamb sandwich at Snack. In fact, Ethos gets the edge since they deliver to me. Also the fish is great, but as you should expect you need to allow some extra time. Ordered here many times, but had a small problem recently and thought I'd update. Gyro great as always, got the hummus (revithosalata) which was good but there was no extra pita that they usually give with it. Kinda made it impossible to eat but it was probably just an oversight. Their standards are usually higher.

this place is really, really good. the pork gyro is awesome - the pork is juicy and crispy. all of the little salads are really good, too. delivery takes a while, not sure why, but it's worth it when it arrives.

Waited over an hour for my food when it said 25 mins for delivery. Then when I opened my bag it was missing 2 of the 4 items I ordered. I called further annoyed when they said it would be 10 mins until they could deliver the missing items when i literally live less than a block away. Will not be ordering from here again.

Very disappointing meal. The menu does not indicate that the prix fix menu portions are appetizer size. I got 3 cubes of overcooked lamb, a scoop of tzatziki and some rice. Not with the 45 minute wait or $25 check.

I think this restaurant has the best Greek food in the city. It's simple and they keep the flavors pure...The appetizers are large, the mussels are amazing. And try the mixed fish grilled skewers... two can share. Fresh and fast with lots of pita bread to eat on the side. I like how they throw in dessert if you order a lot. It's a nice touch. The avgolemono soup was great and it ended there. The chicken souvlaki was not marinated as it should be so it tasted more like good char-grilled plain chicken. The sandwich was dry (almost no tsatziki), full of sliced onions & 2 slices of tomatoes. To me a good souvlaki has chopped tomatoes & onions and maybe even a little lettuce. They sent enough extra pita (which was good) to feed an army and also included a somewhat tasty galaktoboureko (although the phyllo was a bit chewy). The Chicken Place on 3rd has a much better sandwich.

DO NOT GET THE PRIX FIX DINNER. They don't give you what you order, worst of all is they completely decided to give me a side salad instead of an appetizer. The "dinner" was a one (1) skewer of lamb meat and some spanish (thought this was greek?) rice. Completely wrong dessert order. Unacceptable.

I normally never write reviews but I was so happy with my order from Ethos. I ordered the melitzanosalata for pickup. The staff was extremely nice when I came to pick up my order. I got home and discovered a free dessert (the filo-wrapped custard) in my order, it was DELICIOUS. The eggplant dip was delicious, really garlicky, but amazing. PIta bread was a little cold but not enough to detract from the deliciousness.

They always come later than the estimate says, but the food is well worth the wait! I've ordered Avgolemono Soup (lemon chicken soup), Fried Zucchini w/ Garic Dip (you have to love garlic for this one), Tsipoura (Porgy- this one is my favorite) & Lavraki (Stripped Bass) so far. Everything has been wonderful. They always give you plenty of bread. Servings have been always been large, so be prepared to share.

We ordered the Spanakotopia, Saganaki and Kotopoulo Souvlaki. The portions are large and great to share. The main dishes come with plenty of pita triangles and bread. They even threw in a Galaktosuriko dessert. My only complaint is that the food came luke warm - seems like the restaurants don't equip their delivery staff with the right bags to transport food in. I will choose to dine-in next time - the food is great.

the food came 1 hour and 15 minutes after the order when i was quoted 30 - 45 minutes. I called the restaurant and they said that the food had already left. when the food got here it was cold and all shoved to one side of the to go container. a bad experience overall and I didn't want to compain because I didn't want to wait another hour for warm food

Recently ordered from here and the chicken in the clay pot was terrible. Used to be so good. I used to order and go to the restaurant a lot, but that was about 1 year ago. seems to have gone downhill. I'll give it another try but not for a few months.

Very fast delivery, Food came in hot (very) with complimentary breads which were fresh, warm and excellent. Spanakopita was very good, crunchy with generous cheese and spinach farce but it was a bit too greasy for me. Unfortunately, there was no honey with the yogurt dessert BUT i got a complimentary Galaktosoriko. Both desserts were excellent. Will definitely order again and probably dine in too.

Food arrived over 1 hour early. The dish was stale and tasteless and really just wrong (Broccoli Rabe is not two steamed florets of broccoli!). Just a terrible experience.
